Finely coloured map of the Holy Land from the ca 1624 Latin edition of Abraham Ortelius’ atlas the “Parergon”, comprised of maps focused on the ancient world. This map, which was first included in the Ortelius “Theatrum” atlas in 1590, the English translation of the title is: A chorographical map of the famous places in the kingdom of Judea and Israel, made with skill by Tileman Stella of Siegen. The map is decorated with two ornate cartouches and unusually for the period, the map is orientated in the modern north/south view of the region. A description of Judea and Israel appears on the verso in Latin. The map is in excellent condition. 35.5 cm x 46 cm
