Coloured map of Middlesex by John Ogilby and engraved by Walter Binneman. Ogilby planned an atlas of British county maps, however, only three (Essex, Kent and Middlesex) were completed; each one is very rare and much sought after. The map, which has several highly decorative coats of arms and embellishments, contains a plan of London and shows the principal roads of the county. Blank verso. Some marginal defects well away from the image and a printer’s crease, otherwise a finely coloured, superb example. 41.5 cm x 52 cm
