Finely coloured strip map of the coaching route from Oxford to Bristol taken from a ca 1698 edition of Ogilby’s opus entitled “Britannia”, the first national road atlas of any country in Western Europe and first published in 1675. The 68 mile route starts from the Oxford and goes through the towns of Faringdon, Highworth, Malmesbury and terminating in Bristol. The map has a decorative cartouche indicating the main towns on the route and the distances between them. Blank verso. Other than a minor repair to the top margin, the map is in excellent condition. 32.5 cm x 43.5 cm
