Coloured map of Surrey taken from a George Humble edition of John Speed’s “Theatre of the Empire of Great Britain”. One of the most decorative of Speed’s county maps; it contains views of Richmond and Nonsuch Palaces and the arms of the noble families of the county. A description of the county appears on the verso in English. In common with all examples of this map subsequent to 1627, the top right corner is broken off. Professional repair to bottom centrefold split and some marginal toning, otherwise a strong dark impression in very good condition. 51.5 cm x 38.5 cm
