Old coloured map of the Isle of Wight from the rare Sudbury & Humble Latin edition John Speed’s “Theatre of the Empire of Great Britain”. Certainly one of the most decorative maps of the island, it contains plans of Newport and Southampton, several sailing ships, a sea monster and coats of arms of local nobles. Other than some professionally repaired small holes near the top centrefold area due to verdigris damage, a lovely old coloured example in very good condition. 38.5 cm x 51 cm
