Finely coloured strip map of the coaching route from London to Dover taken from a ca 1698 edition of Ogilby’s opus entitled “Britannia”, the first national road atlas of any country in Western Europe and first published in 1675. The 71 mile route starts from the London and goes through the towns of Dartford, Rochester, Canterbury and terminating in Dover. The map has a decorative cartouche indicating the main towns on the route and the distances between them. Blank verso. Other than a small rust hole and some faint marks in the margins from prior framings, the map is in very good condition. 32 cm x 44.5 cm
