Coloured strip map of the coaching route from Darleston to Preston (Garstang) taken from a ca 1698 edition of Ogilby’s opus entitled “Britannia”, first published in 1675. The 79 mile route starts from Darleston and proceeds on a generally northern route through the towns of Newcastle, Warrington, Newton, Wigan, Preston and ending in Garstang. The map has a cartouche decorated with a scene of pastoral life and the royal coat of arms as well as showing the main towns on the route and the distances between them. Blank verso. Other than some repairs to the bottom margin and a centrefold split; a finely coloured example of this map in very good condition. 33.5 cm x 41.5 cm
