Coloured plans of Jerusalem from the landmark Braun & Hogenberg atlas of cities throughout the world entitled “Civitates Orbis Terrarum” first published in 1572. The plate, initially appearing in 1572, shows two plans of Jerusalem; on the right is a current (16th century) view and the right shows an imaginative biblical representation. The cartouche, bottom right, shows Moses receiving the Ten Commandments. A description of the town appears verso in Latin. The map, which has generous margins, is a strong dark impression in excellent condition. 34 cm x 48.5 cm
