Coloured map of Westmorland from a George Humble edition of John Speed’s “Theatre of the Empire of Great Britain”. A very decorative map of the county, it contains a plan of the town of Kendal along with a key showing places of note. The map is further decorated with two strap-work cartouches, one with the royal coat of arms and the other with the arms of the noble families of the county. A description of the county appears on the verso in English. The map is a finely coloured, strong dark impression in excellent condition. 38 cm x 51 cm
