Coloured map of London published in Strype’s updated 1720 edition of John Stow’s “A survey of the cities of London and Westminster…”. This detailed plan of London shows the city from Hyde Park in the west, to St. Pancras Wells in the north, to Lambeth Palace in the south and to Stepney in the east. It is decorated with three ornate cartouches; the central title cartouche with Victory, Apollo and Athena, the left cartouche containing the arms of the City of London and the right cartouche with the arms and a dedication to Sir George Thorold, the Lord Mayor at the time. Blank verso. Other than some toning in the blank margin from a previous framing, this beautifully coloured plan of early 18th century London is in excellent condition. 48.5 cm x 67 cm
