Finely coloured plan of the Northeast coast of England originally issued in Waghenaer’s landmark atlas of sea charts entitled “Spieghel der Zeervaerdt” (Mariners Mirror) in 1584. This example is from the French edition of the atlas entitled “Miroir de la Navigation” first published in 1590. Considered to be among the most beautiful sea charts available, the area covered comprises the Suffolk and Norfolk coasts bordering the North Sea and the chart is decorated with two compass roses and several sailing ships. A description of the region appears on the verso in French. A lovely example with wide margins in excellent condition. 35.5 cm x 51.5 cm
