Beautifully coloured map of the West Riding of Yorkshire from the rare Sudbury and Humble Latin edition of John Speed’s “Theatre of the Empire of Great Britain”. Inset is a detailed plan of York together with a key indicating 46 landmarks and places of interest in the city. Also included is the royal coat of arms, the arms of the noble families of the county and a decorative strap-work title cartouche. A description of the county appears on the verso in Latin. The map has a repair to a short bottom centrefold split; otherwise a strong dark impression in excellent condition. 38 cm x 51 cm
