A lovely old coloured example of John Speed’s map of the West Riding of Yorkshire from the rare Sudbury and Humble Latin edition of “Theatre of the Empire of Great Britain”. Inset is a large detailed plan of York together with a key indicating 46 landmarks and places of interest in the city. Also included are the royal coat of arms, the arms of the noble families of the county and a decorative strap-work title cartouche. A description of the region appears on the verso in Latin. The map is in excellent condition. 38.5 cm x 51 cm
