Coloured strip map of the coaching route from London to Oxford taken from Ogilby’s opus entitled “Britannia”, first published in 1675. Roughly approximating the route of the A40 west from London, it is the first road map in the atlas and contains an image of a surveyor using the way-wiser to measure distance; one of only four examples in the atlas. Blank verso. A repair to marginal tears, one just touching the neat-line; otherwise a finely coloured example of this most sought after map in very good condition. 31 cm x 43 cm
