Coloured map of Middlesex and Hertfordshire from Jansson’s atlas of the world “Nieuwen Atlas”, Volume IV containing the English county maps, first published in 1646. It is thought that this variation, which includes the Schenk & Valk imprint and graticules, was published in the Atlas Anglois by David Mortier. The unusual western orientation of the counties creates a pleasing artistic composition. Blank verso. Other than a printer’s crease to the right of the centrefold, a finely coloured superb example in excellent condition. 42.5 cm x 53.5 cm
