A fantastic, large and very detailed plan of London by Robert Morden and Philip Lea entitled “London Westminster & Southwark”. This is the first edition of the plan, issued in 1700 on six joined sheets containing the publishers inscription of Robt Morden and Phil Lea. The plan, which shows the area from Hyde Park in the west to Trinity Alms Houses in the east and from Clerkenwell in the north to Lambeth in the south, contains tables identifying company halls, wards, parishes and churches, hospitals, the Temples and its courts and Westminster streets. The map also shows Arlington House where Buckingham Palace is now located, deer preserves in St. James and Hyde Parks, the Tower and other major buildings and landmarks. Blank verso. Other than an old repair to the bottom right corner, the map is in excellent condition. 60 cm x 126 cm
