Old wash-coloured sea chart from Volume 4 of Gerard van Keulen’s atlas of sea charts entitled “De Nieuwe Groote Lichtende Zee-Fackel” first published in Amsterdam in 1680 by his father Johannes. Shown in two sections, the chart covers the entire length of the St. Lawrence River from Lake Ontario in the west to Quebec City/Île d'Orléans, shown at the bottom, and onward to the western part of Anticosti Island, shown in the main chart. There are four additional detailed insets showing Pointe-aux-Alouettes at the mouth of the Saguenay River, Havre St. Nicholas, Les Sept-Îles and the approach to Quebec City. Blank verso. The chart is cut close to the neatline at the top, otherwise in excellent condition. 52.5 cm x 61 cm
