An old coloured county map of Leicestershire from Volume IV, containing the English county maps, of Blaeu’s landmark atlas of the world “Atlas Novus”, first published in 1645. The map contains the usual Blaeu decorations; including the royal coat of arms, several coats of arms of the noble families of the county and a title cartouche surrounded by several putti. A description of the county appears verso in French. Other than remnants of a previous framing on the top margin, well away from the image, a beautifully coloured, strong dark impression on heavy paper with wide margins in very good condition. 38 cm x 49.5 cm
