Coloured map of Kent from an early Sudbury & Humble edition of John Speed’s “Theatre of the Empire of Great Britain”. A beautifully decorated map of the county, it contains plans of the towns of Rochester and Canterbury along with the arms of the noble families of the county. A description of the county appears on the verso in English. A strong dark impression on heavy paper, it has some professional restoration of centrefold and other splits, both top and bottom, that intrude well into the image. Otherwise a very presentable well coloured early edition example priced accordingly. 37.5 cm x 50.5 cm
