Coloured map of Cumberland from Volume IV, containing the English county maps, of Blaeu’s landmark atlas of the world “Atlas Novus”, first published in 1645. The map contains the usual Blaeu decorations; including the royal coat of arms together with those of the noble families of the county and scenes of local life. A description of the county appears verso in Latin. The map has a professional repair to an area worm damage near the border and some marginal discolouration; otherwise a gold-heightened, finely coloured, strong dark impression in very good condition. 41 cm x 50 cm
