Coloured map of Cornwall from Jansson’s atlas of the world “Novus Atlas”, Volume IV containing the English county maps, first published in 1646. The map contains the usual Jansson decorations; including compass roses in sea areas, coats of arms of the noble families of the county and a scene of local life. A description of Cornwall appears on the verso in Latin. Due to old colouring and use of verdigris, areas on verso are reinforced with Japan paper and the map has some minor spotting. Otherwise, a finely coloured, strong dark impression on heavy paper in very good condition. 38 cm x 50.5 cm
