Coloured map of Middlesex by John Ogilby and engraved by Walter Binneman taken from the George Willdey edition of Christopher Saxton’s atlas, “The Shires of England and Wales…”. The map, which has several highly decorative coats of arms and embellishments, contains a plan of London and shows the principal roads of the county. Ogilby planned an atlas of British county maps, however, only three (Essex, Kent and Middlesex) were completed; each one is much sought after. Blank verso. Beautifully coloured, it is probably one of the finest examples available of this rare, map. Excellent condition. 41.5 cm x 52 cm
